The Southern African Nordic Centre is an organization that connects members of the four mentioned Universities along with academics from: the University of Aarhus, the University of Bergen, the University of Malawi, and the University of Turku. These connected groups then work together in various means to further research and development in southern Africa through a variety of means.
The University Of Turku
The University of Turku has a strong focus on various areas of research and development which include: Biosciences, mathematical research, research of Learning and Education, astronomy and space research, and research Related to Interaction of Culture and Society.
The University Of Zambia
The University Of Zambia has a strong focus in research and development when it concerns Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Agricultural Sciences, Mines, Business and Industrial Studies, and Veterinary Medicine to name a few. There are a variety of organizations throughout the University that focus on each of these areas and seek out ways in which they can make further advancements in technology in their specific areas of research.

Uppsala University has received high marks and awards of excellence when it concerns research and development. In fact, after an evaluation by foreign experts, a great number of research teams received the marking of "world leading" or "high international standard".
